Intercontinental Delta Alliance

..................    Uniting the World for Delta Sustainability

Background

Deltas are dynamic landforms formed at the confluence of rivers and oceans, hosting unique ecosystems and supporting millions of people globally. However, they are increasingly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, such as sea-level rise, extreme weather events, and human interventions like dam construction and urbanization. Recognizing the need for coordinated action to address these challenges, the Intercontinental Delta Alliance (IDA) has been formed by SAIARD as a collaborative platform for delta regions across continents.

SAIARD's upcoming publication

Delta Catalogue

The Delta Catalogue is a unique initiative and a comprehensive resource compiled by the South Asia Institute of Advanced Research and Development (SAIARD) where 32 river deltas will be curtailed within a single cover page. This book serves as a valuable repository of knowledge, insights, and best practices related to delta regions in South Asia and beyond. This book is a testament to our commitment to advancing knowledge and promoting collaboration in the field of delta science and management.

Geospatial Delta

"Geospatial Delta" is an initiative by the South Asian Institute for Advanced Research and Development (SAIARD) focused on utilizing geospatial technology to study and address various aspects of delta regions, with a particular emphasis on the Sundarban Delta. This initiative aims to leverage GIS (Geographic Information Systems), remote sensing, and other geospatial tools to monitor environmental changes, analyze coastal dynamics, and develop strategies for sustainable management and conservation of deltaic ecosystems.
